● Studied Medicine at the University of Zurich UZH and switched as a cand. med. to Plant Biology UZH, where he got his PhD with a thesis on heterochromatin and DNA replication (Exptl Cell Res 64/2 (1971) 323-330)
 
● After a Molecular Biology training in Charles Weissmann's Lab he did his first steps as a Plant Physiologist at UZH studying the role of caffeine in the plant species producing it
 
● Was as post-doc at USC in LA, where he investigated the Cell Physiology in Wilms' tumor (Proff. John W Beierle and Samuel E  Allerton)
 
● After returning to Plant Biology at UZH, he became Assistant, Docent, and finally Associate Professor of Plant Physiology. A list of his scientific publications is here
 
​● Since retirement he acts as a book author inspired and artistically assisted by his wife Beatrice Häsler

● Studied the basics at the Zurich Textile School and at the Bern University of Arts
 
● Thereafter, learned Pharmacy at the University of Bern and later supplemented her artistic activity by working as a pharmacist
 
● Then, emigrated to NY and got the BFA at Parsons School of Design. 
 
● For several years held a position  as an illustrator at the Bronx Zoo in NY
 
● Returned to Switzerland and worked as a free lancer as well as in the Atelier am Wasser
 
● ​Created during this time a large collection of plant illustrations dealing ​e.g. with museal objects and phylogenetic trees of flowering plants
 
● ​For some time designed and made embroidery art work
 
● ​Currently transforming The Global Flora into an easily recognizable tree for scientific education.
